After enjoying one last amazing breakfast at Mountain Harbour Hostel/B&B this morning we got a late start on our hike, heading out at 9:45 am. The forecast today was for rain throughout most of the day though we had a couple of dry hours first thing this morning. Just before noon, we crossed over the 400 mile mark of this journey, which began 6 weeks ago today for me. Just after passing this milestone, we saw a beautiful 100 foot waterfall just one tenth of a mile off of the trail. While the day off yesterday was a big help to the tramily’s recovery from the stomach virus debacle of the past 7 days, we were all still dragging a bit, but especially Mountain Crusher whom I felt very badly for this morning. He looked like he felt so bad and we stopped several times this morning to try and make the journey a bit more bearable for him. This afternoon though he seemed to make a decent rebound and was feeling /looking better. I hope the worst has now passed for him and all of us. While it was one week ago tonight that I became sick, my stomach is still not fully back to normal and my hiking strength is maybe now back to 90%. Despite the rainy conditions, the 16.5 miles we covered today were over very moderate terrain compared to what we have dealt with the past 6 weeks, and we were all grateful for that. The rain is beating steadily on my tent as I write this blog, and we are expecting heavy rain tonight followed by on and off rain showers most of the next 3 days. Dinner tonight inside my rainy tent consists of: turkey pepperoni with (badly) crushed saltine crackers, cheese-it’s, apple sauce and peanut butter on raisin bread. Quite a change from the nice dinner I enjoyed with my brothers last night but enough to fill me up! 😊

Congratulations on hitting the 400 mile mark! I hope your stay at the hostel and the visit with your brothers has given you renewed energy. Just keep swimming!
